I am an E-RYT 200 Certified Yoga Instructor offering private instruction and group classes in San Diego at Foundation Yoga in Solana Beach, Yoga Del Mar, Lomas Santa Fe Country Club and privately in my home. My first 200 hour training was received in Anahata Yoga with continued education in Anusara under the guidance of Geri Portnoy.
I've had the privilege and pleasure of studying with Roger Cole, Ganga White and Tracy Rich of White Lotus Yoga, Diane Roberts and Mirka Kraftsow and many more talented and gifted teachers.
I have held positions at the Center for Discovery, a residential program for young women with eating disorders and Practical Recovery, a substance abuse residential center offering yoga, meditation and Yoga Nidra. I'm currently employed by the VA Medical Center in La Jolla (2010-present) teaching the principles of Yoga to our Veterans, and will begin another 2 year funded study for Chronic Low Back Pain in Veterans in the fall of 2020.
I holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland and received my Holistic Health Practitioners diploma in 1999 from the Natural Healing Institute of Naturopathy, Encinitas, CA. I am a Liscensed Massage Therapist and hasve studied Cranial Sacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute. Post graduate studies in Somatic Experiencing for Trauma Resolution with the Human Enrichment Foundation are on going.
Around 2014, after sustaining an injury that was making it increasingly uncomfortable to practice Yoga asana I began to explore more fluid and circular modalities. After more than a year of being in pain I found myself drawn to 5 Rhythms Dance and the Feldenkraiss Method. These spiraling movements opened me up and the pain that I endured began to dissipate. In 2017 I was drawn to the teachings of Diane Bruni and headed to Toronto to explore developmental movements and the Axis Syllabus with Frey Faust and Francesca Pendulla. In 2018 my online explorations led me to the work of Kaila June, a somatic movement educator based in Boise, Idaho and her Somatic Groundwork offerings. Thrilled to have just completed a week long Immersion in Somatic Groundwork (May 2020), I look forward to continuing to offer this movement as medicine practice into the world.
